SECURITY REVIEWS / PRACTICAL IMPROVEMENTS

You don't have to know where the gaps are. That's what we're here to find out.

You use the systems, send the emails, look after the customers and get on with running the business. But who checks whether the important accounts are protected, the permissions still make sense or the backups would actually help when needed?

We take an experienced look at the technology your business relies on, explain what matters and help put the sensible improvements in place.

No dramatic warnings. No wall of technical terms. Just a clearer picture and a practical way forward.

Starting out, growing a team or wondering whether your existing setup is as safe as it could be? We can begin there.

Most businesses don't set out to make security mistakes. They just have a business to run.

A new employee joins and gets access to a shared folder. Someone leaves, but an old account remains. A laptop is replaced. A cloud service is switched on because it solves a problem, and nobody comes back to check the settings.

Those decisions are understandable. They're how businesses move forward. But over time, the little gaps can add up, especially when different people have set up different parts of the technology.

We've spent years working with business systems, cloud services, infrastructure and the awkward problems that appear when the details don't quite join up. We know where to look, how to separate genuine concerns from background noise and when the answer is a simple change rather than an expensive project.

Our job is to make the important things understandable, so you can make better decisions about what happens next.

WHY TAKE A LOOK?

The world keeps changing. So does the technology behind your business.

Software weaknesses are discovered. Scams adapt. New ways of signing in become available. The business itself changes, sometimes faster than anyone realises.

That doesn't mean every change is dangerous or every business needs an enormous security programme. It means the arrangements that were sensible on day one deserve another look now and then.

A review is a chance to find the useful improvements while you still have time to plan them, rather than during a busy morning when something has already gone wrong.

THENOne laptop. One account. One way of working.
NOWMore people, more tools and a few things nobody quite remembers setting up.

Security is something you keep looking after, not something you tick off once and forget.

THE THINGS WE CAN HELP YOU UNDERSTAND

Six places worth looking. One clearer picture.

Every business uses a different mix of tools. We'll agree the scope with you and focus on the systems and decisions that matter to your work.

01 / PEOPLE & SIGN-INS

Who has the keys?

We can review important accounts, administrator access, multi-factor authentication and recovery options. Are shared logins still in use? Could an old account open something it shouldn't? Who could get in if the usual administrator was unavailable?

02 / DEVICES & SOFTWARE

What are people working on?

We can check the status of agreed computers and servers, including security settings, updates, protection and unsupported software. It's about understanding what's in use, not immediately replacing everything.

03 / CLOUD & SHARING

Can the right people see the right things?

We look at relevant settings in business email, cloud services and shared file locations, including permissions, external access and important administrative controls. A useful collaboration tool shouldn't quietly become an open door.

04 / SERVERS & NETWORKS

How are the foundations protected?

Where relevant, we review the configuration of systems and network access, who can administer them and whether obvious weaknesses deserve attention. We focus on what is within the agreed scope and accessible with your authorisation.

05 / BACKUPS & RECOVERY

Could you find your way back?

We help review what is backed up, who can access those copies, whether important information is being missed and what evidence exists that recovery works. A backup you haven't checked can leave you with difficult questions later.

06 / WEBSITES & APPLICATIONS

What about the services customers use?

We can review agreed application and hosting configurations, account controls, exposed services and patching arrangements, highlighting areas that merit improvement or a separately scoped specialist assessment.

LESS JARGON. MORE USEFUL ANSWERS.

You don't need a lecture on cyber security. You need to know what it means for your business.

If we find an issue, we'll explain what it is, why it matters and what we recommend doing about it. We'll also tell you when something is already in good shape.

Security isn't improved by making people feel foolish for not knowing the terminology. It's improved when the important decisions are clear enough to act on.

WHAT WE MEAN / IN EVERYDAY LANGUAGE
OVER-PERMISSIONED ACCOUNTSomeone can get into more than they need.
UNSUPPORTED SOFTWAREThe maker no longer provides the fixes it needs.
RECOVERY GAPWe aren't yet confident you could get that information back.
EXPOSED SERVICESomething might be reachable from places it doesn't need to be.

Clear words. Clearer decisions.

NOT JUST ANOTHER REPORT

Find what matters. Then actually do something about it.

We want you to come away understanding your position and knowing what to do next, not facing a long list of technical warnings with no explanation.

01

Understand your business.

We talk through the systems you rely on, what concerns you, who needs access and what a disruption would mean. We agree exactly what we'll review before we begin.

02

Look at the right things.

We examine the agreed settings and arrangements using authorised, proportionate checks. We distinguish observations from assumptions and explain any limitations in what we've been able to verify.

03

Make sense of what we find.

You'll get a plain-English explanation of strengths, concerns and practical priorities. Some fixes might be straightforward; others need a plan, a budget or more investigation.

04

Make the improvements.

We can help apply the agreed changes, arrange specialist work where genuinely needed and check that the important fixes have had the intended result.

GOOD SECURITY CAN START SMALL

Your first year in business is busy enough. Security doesn't need to be another maze.

Perhaps you've just left employment and are setting up on your own. You have a laptop, a new business email address, a few online accounts and a growing list of customers.

You don't need a giant security department. You need to know that the basics have been thought about: secure sign-ins, supported devices, sensible sharing and a way to recover important information if something goes wrong.

We can help you start there and revisit the setup as the business grows. We'll recommend improvements in proportion to the risks, the tools you use and what you can reasonably spend.

FOR A BUSINESS JUST STARTING OUT

01Protect the business email. It's often the route into other important accounts.
02Secure the laptop and phone.Supported software, updates and sensible protection.
03Know who owns the accounts.Keep business access separate and recoverable.
04Make sure the work is recoverable.Know where the data is and how you'd restore it.

WHY RISMOR?

A second pair of eyes. With the experience to see the bigger picture.

We've spent years working with the systems businesses actually use: devices, identity, cloud services, infrastructure, migrations and recovery. We've seen how a small setting can affect a much larger part of the working day.

That wider experience matters. A security change is only helpful if it protects the business without needlessly preventing people from getting their work done. We look at the connections, not just individual settings.

We're independent and practical. We won't invent a crisis to justify a project or hand over a report full of unexplained technical terms. If something needs attention, we'll tell you why. If it's already sensible, we'll say that too.

We want you to feel informed, not alarmed. And to have a setup that's genuinely better than when we found it.

CHOOSE A SENSIBLE STARTING POINT

Start with a review. Decide what needs doing together.

We're happy to work on a defined problem or look more broadly at the foundations. The scope, findings and follow-up are agreed with you.

01 / REVIEW & PRIORITIES

Understand where you stand.

We'll review the agreed systems and settings, explain the results and help prioritise useful next steps. You'll know which concerns deserve attention and which decisions can be planned for later.

02 / REVIEW, IMPROVE & REVISIT

Put the changes into practice.

Prefer us to help with the fixes too? We can agree the improvements, implement appropriate changes and review the result. We can also plan further checks as the business evolves.

Ask about making improvements

Our practical reviews examine an agreed scope of systems and configurations. They are not a formal audit, certification, managed security operations service or penetration test. Where a specialist assessment is needed, we'll help identify that requirement. No review can guarantee that every vulnerability will be found or that a business will never suffer an incident.

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK

You don't need to know the technical answers before we begin.

We're only a small business. Do we really need a security review?

It can be useful, but it should be proportionate. If you have only a laptop, email and a few business services, the best starting point may be a short review of the essentials rather than a large project.

Does this mean you're going to try to hack our systems?

No. A practical security configuration review is different from a penetration test. We inspect agreed settings and arrangements with your authorisation. If specialist penetration testing is appropriate, we'll explain that separately.

Will we have to replace everything you find a problem with?

No. We look for sensible ways to reduce risk, which might mean changing permissions, enabling an existing security feature, applying updates or improving recovery arrangements. Replacement is only worth considering when there's a genuine reason.

Can you help fix the issues you find?

Yes. We can agree the changes, help apply them and check the intended results. Significant work, specialist testing and ongoing support would be scoped separately where needed.

Will you need access to our accounts and systems?

Only where necessary for the agreed review. We'll discuss what access is required, use authorised methods and plan how temporary permissions will be removed or reduced afterwards.

Can a review guarantee that we're secure?

No. Technology, threats and working practices change. A review gives you a better understanding of the systems examined at that point in time. Regular care and good habits still matter afterwards.

A USEFUL PLACE TO BEGIN

Not sure what to check first?

The UK's National Cyber Security Centre has a practical guide for small organisations, covering accounts, email, devices, backups and recognising attacks. It's a good place to begin understanding the basics, whether you work with us or not.

YOUR NEXT STEP

A clearer picture.
A better place to go from here.

Tell us a little about the business, the systems you use and what's on your mind. You don't need to arrive with a security checklist. We'll help work out what's worth looking at and where to start.

Make it dependable.
Make it better.
