SELECTED SOFTWARE / WORDPRESS / USEFUL CONNECTIONS

The software nearly does what you need. It's that last bit that matters.

There's a job your team repeats every week. Two systems that don't talk. A website that needs to do more than display information. Or an idea that's been waiting for somebody to make it real.

Sometimes the answer is a small, thoughtful improvement. Sometimes it's a new piece of software, designed around how your business actually works.

We take on selected software, portal, integration and WordPress projects where we can make a genuine difference. We ask the useful questions first, build carefully and think about what happens after the work is handed over.

Not an endless menu of services. The right kind of work, when there's a clear problem worth solving.

Businesses don't always need more software. Sometimes they need their existing tools to make a bit more sense.

You sign up for a service because it solves an important problem. Then you discover the last step still needs doing by hand. A team member copies information between systems. Someone chases updates by email. An internal spreadsheet slowly becomes the thing everyone depends on, even though it was never meant to be.

Those little workarounds are easy to live with at first. But as the business grows, they take up more time, introduce avoidable errors and make it harder to see what's happening.

We're interested in the details that get overlooked: the awkward handover, the extra login, the form that goes nowhere useful, the task nobody quite owns. Often, understanding those details tells us more about what to build than a long feature wishlist.

Our starting point isn't “what software can we sell you?” It's “what are you trying to make easier, and what would genuinely improve it?”

NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS BUILDING FROM SCRATCH

Keep what works. Change what doesn't.

Before suggesting custom code, we look at what you've already got. A better configuration or a sensible integration might solve the problem without another application to maintain.

01 / USE WHAT EXISTS

Make the most of the tools you already have.

Sometimes the feature is there, just not configured in a useful way. Or the process needs a rethink rather than new technology. We'll say so when a simpler answer makes better sense.

02 / CONNECT THE GAPS

Help the systems work together.

An integration, a focused automation or a small extension can remove a repetitive handover. We check what's possible through supported connections before taking the more complicated route.

03 / BUILD THE MISSING PIECE

Create something that fits the job.

If the missing capability is genuinely yours to solve, we can discuss a carefully scoped portal, plugin or application. Built around a useful outcome, not a list of features for its own sake.

SELECTED PROJECTS / PRACTICAL OUTCOMES

Useful software comes in different shapes. Here are the ones we like working on.

We choose projects where our technical experience and the business need fit. We'll agree what is feasible and worth building before committing to a solution.

01 / BUSINESS PORTALS

Give people one useful place to go.

A portal can help colleagues, partners or customers submit information, follow a request or find what they need without sending another email. We think about the people using it, their permissions and the information they should actually be able to see.

02 / SYSTEM INTEGRATIONS

Stop moving the same information twice.

When two services have suitable APIs or supported connection options, we can explore ways to exchange the right information, handle errors and avoid unnecessary manual copying. We won't promise to connect a system before we've checked what it allows.

03 / WORDPRESS PLUGINS

Add the capability your website is missing.

Need a specific workflow, an integration or a well-defined feature inside WordPress? We can assess and undertake selected plugin development or extension work, with compatibility, security and future updates considered from the outset.

04 / WEBSITE IMPROVEMENTS

Make an existing site more useful.

From awkward forms and unclear journeys to targeted functional changes, we help improve what visitors and staff actually need to do. Not every website needs replacing; sometimes a focused change is the better investment.

05 / SMALL CUSTOM APPLICATIONS

Give a particular problem its own answer.

A lightweight internal tool, a tailored interface or a new process may make work easier without requiring an enormous software programme. We work towards a clear, useful first result and leave room to grow responsibly.

06 / EXISTING SOFTWARE

Improve what's already been built.

If you have an application that needs a second pair of eyes, we can review a defined area, investigate problems or help plan an improvement. We'll first check the code, access, dependencies and support arrangements to see whether we're the right people to help.

WORDPRESS / WITHOUT THE EXTRA COMPLICATION

Your website does its job. Now you need it to do one more thing.

WordPress is a useful platform for many businesses, but the moment you need something specific, it can be tempting to install another plugin and hope it works alongside everything else.

Sometimes that's absolutely the right answer. Sometimes it creates another dependency, more settings to understand and a new place for things to break when the site is updated.

We look at the requirement before choosing the approach. That might mean configuring a trusted existing plugin, writing a focused extension, connecting a supported external service or making a targeted improvement to the website itself.

We pay attention to who will manage it afterwards, how it behaves when WordPress or another plugin changes, what happens to customer data and whether the solution can be safely maintained.

The goal isn't more plugins. It's a website that helps the business do what it needs to do.

A WORDPRESS REQUIREMENTAN ANSWER THAT FITS
“Could the website take the enquiry, organise it and tell the right person?”
01

03
Plan for what happens nextUpdates, security, ownership and handover.

One useful result. No unnecessary moving parts.

FROM “WOULDN'T IT BE GOOD IF...”

You don't need a full technical specification. You need to tell us the story.

What happens today? Who is involved? Where does it get frustrating? What would change if the problem were solved?

We can help turn a conversation and a rough idea into a sensible scope. We’ll challenge assumptions, ask about the exceptions and look for the smallest useful version that can prove the idea works.

That conversation matters. An impressive-looking application that doesn't fit the way people work isn't much of an improvement. We'd rather understand the day-to-day reality before deciding on screens, databases or technologies.

If it doesn't need custom software, we'll tell you. If it does, we'll help work out the best place to begin.

HOW WE APPROACH A COMMISSION

Understand it. Shape it. Build it. Make sure it holds up.

Software is easier to live with when the important decisions are made before everybody is already depending on it.

01

Understand the actual problem.

We talk to the people involved, trace the existing process and find out what a useful outcome would look like. We also look at the tools and systems already available.

02

Agree what's worth doing.

We explain the practical options, likely dependencies, trade-offs and a sensible scope. We agree the work and responsibilities before development starts.

03

Build and check the important things.

We work through the agreed requirements, using suitable reviews and tests. Where existing services or WordPress are involved, we consider compatibility, access and handling of information.

04

Put it to use and hand it over.

We agree how the change is introduced, check it does what it should and provide the practical information needed to look after it. Further improvements or support can be scoped separately.

THE BITS THAT MATTER AFTER LAUNCH

The clever part isn't always the code. It's making something people can actually rely on.

There's more to a useful piece of software than a screen that looks the part. People need to understand it. Access needs to make sense. Information should only go where it's intended, and the business needs to know what it owns and how things are looked after.

That's why we consider the awkward questions along the way: what happens when an integration fails, somebody leaves, a WordPress update changes behaviour or the original developer isn't available?

Not every project needs an elaborate system of controls. But the important risks, responsibilities and dependencies deserve a proper conversation, even on relatively small pieces of work.

GOOD QUESTIONS TO SETTLE

01Who owns the work?Code, accounts, access and any third-party licences
02What information does it handle?Permissions, sensible safeguards and data flows
03How will changes be tested?A practical way to check updates before they affect users
04What if something fails?Useful errors, support responsibilities and recovery options
05Who looks after it next year?Maintenance, documentation and a realistic handover

SELECTIVE BY DESIGN

We don't try to be everything to everyone. That makes the work better.

We'll talk through the opportunity and be clear about whether the project is a good match for our experience and capacity.

A GOOD FIT

Focused problems with a useful outcome.

A team stuck with a repetitive process. A WordPress feature that's missing. A small portal that could make information easier to access. A system that needs an achievable improvement rather than an entirely new platform.

We like projects where we can understand the need, agree the boundaries and make a tangible difference.

LET'S BE REALISTIC

Sometimes a different answer is better.

If an established product already solves the problem well, we'd rather help you recognise that. If the work demands a large permanent development team, a regulated specialist or a capability we can't responsibly support, we'll be clear about it.

Good judgement includes knowing when not to build something ourselves.

WHY WORK WITH RISMOR?

We see the software. And the systems, people and decisions around it.

We come at software from more than one direction. We understand development, but also the infrastructure behind applications, the cloud services they depend on, the security decisions that keep them useful and the real people who have to make them work.

That perspective helps when the question isn't just “can we write this?” but “should we?”, “how will it fit?” and “who will manage it afterwards?”.

We also develop our own Rismor products. That gives us a continuing interest in the decisions that make software useful beyond the day it's first released: maintainability, clear ownership and knowing when a simple approach is the strongest one.

We want to make the right thing, in the right way, for the right reason. Nothing more complicated than it needs to be.

START WHERE YOU ARE

An idea to explore. Or a particular problem to put right.

We don't need you to arrive with a specification. We can begin with the process, the people and the result you're looking for.

01 / A NEW PIECE OF WORK

Let's shape what you need.

Bring us the idea, the frustrating process or the missing capability. We'll explore whether a focused application, integration or WordPress solution makes sense, then agree the scope and delivery approach.

Discuss a software idea
02 / SOMETHING YOU ALREADY HAVE

Let's improve what's there.

If your portal, website or plugin needs a targeted change, we can look at what exists, identify the practical options and decide whether we're a good fit to help with the improvement.

Ask about an existing system

Projects are assessed individually. Custom software, WordPress changes, third-party integrations, hosting, external licences, ongoing support and specialist assessments are scoped according to the actual requirement; none is automatically included in another. We won't promise compatibility with third-party systems before we've checked their capabilities and constraints.

A FEW USEFUL QUESTIONS

It can start with a rough idea. That's enough.

Do we need to know exactly what we want built?

No. It's often better to begin with the problem. We can help explore the process, identify what's missing and work towards a clear scope before deciding whether software is the answer.

Will you build an entire application from scratch?

We consider selected bespoke software projects where the need, scope and our capabilities are a good fit. We won't automatically recommend a new application when an existing product or a small integration would solve the problem more sensibly.

Can you create a custom WordPress plugin?

Yes, for suitable, well-defined requirements. We'll first check whether an existing trusted option meets the need, and discuss compatibility, testing, ongoing updates and ownership before agreeing custom work.

Can you connect our software to another service?

Possibly. It depends on what each system supports, such as documented APIs, permissions and suitable integration methods. We'll assess the technical and commercial constraints before making a commitment.

Can you work on a website or application somebody else made?

Where the code, access and support arrangements make it feasible, yes. We would first review the relevant part of the system and agree what can be changed safely, including any dependencies or risks.

Who will own the software and look after it?

We'll discuss ownership, third-party services, licensing, credentials, documentation and handover as part of the agreed scope. Support, hosting and future development can be arranged separately when needed, rather than assumed.

WHAT COULD WORK BETTER?

Tell us what's awkward.
We'll help find the useful answer.

It might be a website that needs one more capability, two systems that don't speak or an idea you're not quite sure how to explain. Tell us what happens today and what you'd rather be doing instead.

Make it possible.
Make it better.
